List of open source software used in the Pre

with 15 comments

I was just poking around in the filesystem of the Palm Pre, and I found a pdf file containing all of the open source software licenses used in the phone.  I thought it was interesting to see all of the different packages that went into making WebOS tick.

  7. Your summary is missing the (L)GPL2/3-licensed packages, such as:
    – Linux kernel
    – readline
    – rsync

Also, it surprises me that the .pdf you link to does not mention libgc, libstdc++, WebKit, or khtml. I would guess it would use these.

It also does not mention that it uses SQLite (it does not need to, but it would have been polite to do so). Again, I guess it uses this, as it does mention SQLiteJDBC

  11. The list seems more like an Open Source Project list, rather than a license list. Those projects are each covered by a license, many of them GPL.
